If you’ve worried that marketing through a Facebook page might make your brand look cheap, well, you can chuck that thought out the window. A huge number of prominent brands are apparently embracing Facebook, with one sports team pretty much granting the site its full attention.
Here are some facts. The e-tailing group and PowerReviews recently surveyed a lot of online retailers, and 86 percent of them already have a Facebook fan page. Another 10 percent intend to create one within the next year. And three percent intend to make one at some unspecified point in the future. (Thanks go to eMarketer for these details.)
So that means a full 99 percent of the respondents either have or intend to have a Facebook page.
Then, Inside Facebook reports, “The New England Patriots have partnered with Buddy Media to create a new Facebook page that is now their primary source of online content for fans. The Patriots Fan Zone offers fans of the team a opportunity take part in team-related discussions with other fans, stay up to date on games and events through a team calendar, send Patriots-themed virtual gifts, participate in Fantasy Forecast and more.”
So it looks like entities of all sizes (and with all types of budgets) are all about marketing themselves through Facebook these days. You’d probably do well to join the trend.
